This image of mushrooms was created to inspire home-made cooking using fresh ingredients and imparts an earthy, dark mood, using neutral colours to create a rustic ambience around food. A softbox was used to show off textures and emphasize shadows.

I wanted to capture these home-made Belgian chocolate waffles, and to include a splash of colour I added fresh berries to the dish. For extra texture and interest I drizzled some maple syrup on top. I lit the set-up with an external flashgun.
